Building Bridges: Tell us a little bit about you, your family, and what you like to do for fun!
Corinne Hanna: I live in Philadelphia with
my awesome husband and my dog, whom I love very much. I love to craft, from
paper crafting homemade cards and banners to clay to jewelry making. If I see
something I like on Pinterest or get inspired I will figure out how to make something
even if I’ve never used the materials before. I love personalizing things for
our home and making special things for family and friends.

Corinne Hanna: I also enjoy baking, playing video games, and just hanging around the house with my family and watching a good movie.
Building Bridges: Why did you choose the name of your business? Is there a special meaning behind it?
Corinne Hanna: I consider myself to be “geeky.” I love pop culture and nerdy things, I wanted to sell things that I’m passionate about and I know there are people out there that like the same things. A “geek” in the dictionary is defined as a few things including “A person who is very interested in and knows a lot about a particular field or activity” So, aren’t we all geeks about something? I’ve kind of become a Geek about Vinyl, I’m finding more and more uses for it and I find it so fun! If you’re a Nail Art geek maybe you’ll like my Nail Art stickers, if you’re a movie geek maybe you would enjoy one of the quote decals that make reference to popular movies like my “Clever Girl” decal that references Jurassic Park. I think the Name Geeky Vinyl is the perfect name for my shop, the “and more” refers to anything else that I feel like making and selling weather it’s something completely different (like my fabric rose bouquet) or finished products using vinyl like the vinyl and ceramic coasters.
Building Bridges: Did someone encourage you to start a business?
Corinne Hanna: My husband encouraged me to start selling my stuff because he always believes in me way more than I believe in myself. I am often shy and when I would make things like nail art and someone would notice it out in public, they would compliment me and I would smile, blush and thank them but my husband Mike would then add “she made those”. After people would ask me if I sell products somewhere and I said no so many times it was hard to argue the fact that someone might actually buy something from shop if I started one.
Building Bridges: When did your shop officially open?
Corinne Hanna: Technically my shop opened
Jan 14, 2012. I sold a few fabric rose bouquets and then my shop was pretty
empty for a while. I started it back up in October 2013 with all of the Vinyl stuff
and when it started doing well, I changed the shop name.

Corinne Hanna: Yes. I take Custom orders all the time. If anyone has something they want, they can message me on Etsy and I can work on customizing a design for them.

Building
Bridges: What do you love or hate about selling?Corinne Hanna: I love being able to make a little money doing something that I like and sharing stuff I make with other people. I have a 9-to-5 office job that I like but it doesn’t let me be creative like this does. The extra money on the side that I make with my shop is great for buying more supplies so that I can make more things for the shop and for homemade gifts and things that I like doing for friends and family.
Building Bridges: Do you have any advice for other crafters who would like to start selling their creations?

Corinne Hanna: Don’t be shy. If you like what you make someone else will too.
Building Bridges: We love to attend craft and vendor markets - do you?
Corinne Hanna: I love going to craft fairs and things, I’ve been so busy that I haven’t done one yet myself but I plan to do some in the Philadelphia/New Jersey area soon.

Bridges: What is your most popular product on the market right now?Corinne Hanna: My most popular things right now are the Chevron and Anchor Nail art stickers and the “Clever Girl” decals.
Building Bridges: What is the favorite item you make and why?
Corinne Hanna: My favorite item is probably the chevron nail art stickers since I use them myself the most. I love chevron designs right now and I use these almost every time I do my nails.

Along with being able to have a fantastic interview with Corinne, she was sweet enough to send us a few nail vinyl decals to test! So I gathered my team together and painted our nails, glittered our toes and had a ball testing out these gorgeous chevron & anchor decals!
Not only are the nail decals gorgeous, but for the amount of decals you get for just $1.49 it's an incredible deal! Especially since the current style is to only decorate one or two nails, I know I will be able to put these
to use for a good long while!
